  • We collect basic visit data through Google Analytics and our hosting and security providers.
  • If you email us, we use your message only to reply.
  • Amazon may set cookies when you click our affiliate links.
  • We do not sell your personal information for money.

Who we are

Fair Way Volt (“we”, “us”, “our”) publishes golf cart guides and product rankings at fairwayvolt.com. This policy applies to this website only. You can contact us about privacy at any time at hello@fairwayvolt.com.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and anything you write in your message. If comments are open on a post and you leave one, WordPress stores the name, email address and comment you submit.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we receive technical data when you visit:

  • Your IP address, which our security and analytics tools may shorten or mask
  • Browser type, device type, operating system and screen size
  • Pages you view, how long you stay, and the page that sent you here
  • Approximate location (country or city level), based on your IP address

Cookies

We and our partners use cookies and similar tools. Our Cookie Policy lists them in detail.

How we use information

  • To run, secure and protect the website, including blocking spam and harmful bots
  • To understand which guides are useful so we can improve and update them
  • To reply to your emails and fix errors you report
  • To track affiliate referrals so we can earn commissions that fund the site
  • To meet legal duties and defend our legal rights

Legal bases (visitors in the EEA and UK)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases under the GDPR and UK GDPR:

  • Legitimate interests: running a secure, useful website and replying to messages
  • Consent: for analytics and affiliate cookies, where the law requires consent
  • Legal obligation: where we must keep or share information by law

Third-party services we use

  • Google Analytics (connected through Google Site Kit) measures site traffic. Google’s privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • Amazon Associates is our main affiliate program. When you click a product link, Amazon may set cookies on its own site to credit the referral. Amazon’s handling of your data is covered by the Amazon Privacy Notice on Amazon.com.
  • Cloudflare protects the site from attacks and speeds up delivery. It processes IP addresses and request data for security. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
  • Our web host stores server logs, including IP addresses, to keep the site running and secure.

These companies process data under their own privacy policies. We do not control the cookies they set.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only:

  • With the service providers listed above, so they can perform their services for us
  • When the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our visitors or the public
  • If Fair Way Volt is sold or merged, in which case this policy continues to protect your information

Some US state laws treat cookie-based analytics or advertising as “sharing” or “targeted advertising”. You can opt out at any time by blocking those cookies in your browser or by emailing us.

How long we keep information

  • Emails: up to 24 months after our last reply, then deleted, unless we need them for a legal reason
  • Analytics data: kept for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, which is no longer than 14 months
  • Server and security logs: kept for a short period set by our host and Cloudflare, usually days or weeks

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy
  • Correct information that is wrong
  • Delete your information
  • Object to or limit how we use it
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
  • Complain to your local data protection authority

California residents: under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, you have the rights to know, delete, correct and opt out of sale or sharing. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

To make a request, email hello@fairwayvolt.com with the subject line “Privacy request”. We will confirm receipt and respond within the time the law allows, which is usually 30 to 45 days. We may ask for details to confirm the request is really from you.

Children’s privacy

Fair Way Volt is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email hello@fairwayvolt.com and we will delete it.

Security

We use HTTPS encryption, Cloudflare security tools and up to date software to protect the site. No website can promise perfect security, so please do not send sensitive information, such as payment details, by email.

International visitors

Fair Way Volt is run from outside the European Union, and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, those providers use legal safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Browsers handle Do Not Track signals in different ways, and there is no common standard, so our site does not respond to them. Where the law requires us to treat a Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out request, we will do so.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our tools or the law change. We will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page when we do. Big changes will be explained on this page.
